Mathy
Hello guys kveldulfur release the Gerbers for his redesigned 600XL motherboard. The design has been tested by Olix. You'll find the files you'll need under Download (upper right corner). The PCB has provisions for two Pokeys or PokeyMax, FujiNet (parts list available), 512kB extended RAM, SEGA Saturn Video Port (MiniDIN-10), etc., etc., etc. The site is in German. Nice 👍 I always liked the 600XL because of it's very small form factor. This new motherboard version brings everything it was missing, and then some! 6
olix
This board is really a great development from kveldulfur. Here are some pictures: We have organized a collective order on the ABBUC website. A few complete kits are still available. The kit includes the PCB and all components except the custom ICs (Sally, Pokey, Antic, GTIA, PIA, MMU, System Crystal). Unfortunately, the 24-pin keyboard socket is also missing. But apart from that, all components, sockets and switches are included in the kit. The kit is designed for PAL assembly, but a conversion to NTSC is possible without effort and has been tested. If you would like to have a board with component kit please contact me via PM. Unfortunately I can only ship within the European Union.
RetroCoder
How do we add out names for an order?

Defender II
What is the cost of the kit? I’d probably go with the kit as it is, but are any different components (other than the aforementioned custom IC’s) needed for the NTSC version? Would anyone be interested in being an intermediary to get one shipped to me in the US?

But as already written: Shipping only to Germany or an address in the European Union. Attached is a list of all parts included in the kit. And a picture of the kit: I have created a public shopping cart at Mouser: https://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=331448f28a But there are some components, you can only buy at AliExpress or other small Shops: 600XL-Advanced_BOM_1_2_Links.xlsx (Sorry the BOM is in German) To operate the board in NTSC, only the crystal for the system clock needs to be replaced and of course ANTIC and GTIA for NTSC. The second crystal for the PAL color carrier is then simply left out. That is all. 600XL-Advanced_Packing_List.pdf

We saved a lot of money with this collective order. If you order for just one person, total price is much higher. Sincerely Mathy

venom4728a
Anyone doing a bulk buy in the USA?

If you order all the parts and PCBs for 10 devices, you will certainly save half the cost. The problem: The person who organizes the order has a lot of work and everyone else who takes part is happy about the money saved. @venom4728a: What about you? Don't you want to take over the organization of the collective order?
venom4728a
I have the board setup on PCBWay using the Gerber files from the link in post on this thread. Are those the most current Gerber Files with all the debugging changes? I was looking at a White Solder mask with Black silk screening/text. Looked like the cost was about $13/ board for 5 boards. olix
The gerbers from the project website are the newest. V1.0 (5dfd) The price for the pcb is good.
venom4728a
I apologize that number is incorrect, it was roughly $115 for 5 boards including 8 to 12 days shipping/delivery. My math functions are wonky this morning. Edited June 18 by venom4728a
cbelcher
I usually find JLCPCB cheaper than PCBWay. Might be worth getting the quote.
+mytek
3 hours ago, cbelcher said: I usually find JLCPCB cheaper than PCBWay. Might be worth getting the quote. Yep it is 👍 5 boards with Black Solder Mask = $25.40 + $28.80 DHL Shipping = Total of $54.20 Cost per board = $10.84 And the price doesn't change when choosing different Solder Mask colors on 2-layer standard thickness boards. That's half the cost as compared to PCBway Just because everyone and their uncle advertises PCBway on their YT videos doesn't make it the best deal. EDIT: Delivery is fast, usually being no more than 5 days from submitting order, to arriving on your doorstep.
olix
I would also recommend the following settings: Surface Finish: ENIG Goldfingers: Yes, 30 Degree 2

venom4728a
I will probably make an order for at least 5 boards, that price is way better the pcbway!
olix
Attention: The small adapter board for the mini DIN AV socket must only be manufactured in 0.8 mm thickness, otherwise the distance is not correct. HASL is also sufficient as a surface for the small PCB. Here the settings for the small board:
venom4728a
I ordered 10 boards to the spec's listed above.
mattsoft
If someone in the US is ordering some PCBs and has an extra for sale, I'm definitely interested! Thanks! Edited June 20 by mattsoft
olix
@venom4728a Well done. It's a good idea to order 10 PCBs at once, because the price per board is much cheaper that way. And one more tip: you should set the "Remove order number" function to YES. It's not so nice to see a big number somewhere on the board. I will have about 6 extra sets of boards (Atari 600xl board and Mini Din). They cost about $14.71 each, plus the cost of tracking, packaging, shipping with signature verified delivery to your address.
