Perdrix24
I've tried @OakLeaves floppy imaging service and would like to recommend it. He converted my 12 5.25" diskettes to ATX or ATR image format. Price is CDN$40 for six diskettes. Twice I dropped off six diskettes and the images were ready within a week. I used the images in my Atari 400 mini, simply by copying them to a USB stick. They were diskettes of programs and texts I wrote in 1985 and 1986. The diskettes were in single and enhanced density, none copy-protected. I found the service very professional and courteous. It is possible to mail him the diskettes.
OakLeaves
Thank you for your patronage! I'm not a company, I'm just a collector trying to recoup the cost of my hardware collection
abbotkinneydude
Any ATARI user in Montréal gets my vote! Tout utilisateur ATARI basé à Montréal, je vote pour lui! Note: I recently found out that there was a French Canadian translation of the following book: THINGS TO DO WITH YOUR ATARI COMPUTER (Dilithium Press) Which was translated in French (and published in Canada) as: Tout Ce Que Vous Pouvez Faire Avec Votre Ordinateur ATARI (Éditions du Mortagne) Screenshot from: https://www.atari800xl.eu/docs/kb/kb-culture-0002-books.html (merci Laurent pour le site!) Is it something you'd have in your collection? This hasn't been scanned yet and this would be of great use to the A8 French speaking community. Thanks!

+Larry
About French language books, etc. -- I wonder how much Atari stuff was published in France back in the 80's? I've seen a few things, and I believe that I read there was a dedicated Atari sales office in France BITD. Does anyone have any information about that? Likewise, I wonder about other areas where Atari made some inroads in the 80's.

For a start, I recommend @Marsupilami's web site -> https://www.atarinside.com/blog/ It contains almost all (if not all) software from ATARI France plus 2 translations of DE RE ATARI and INSIDE ATARI BASIC. De Re Atari: https://www.atarinside.com/blog/index.p ... ri-french/ Connaître le Basic Atari: https://www.atarinside.com/blog/index.p ... sic-atari/ Classic Computer Archivist KailoKyra has also been dropping French Language books on his Archive.org page: https://archive.org/details/@kailokyra OBTENEZ LE MAXIMUM DE VOTRE ATARI (Éditions Eyrolles) - French Translation of the UK book 'Making The Most Of Your Atari' by Paul Bunn. JEUX EN BASIC SUR ATARI (Éditions SYBEX) - French translation of the UK "Games For Your Atari" (Virgin Press) / US "Games For Your Atari Computer" (Dell) book by Paul Bunn GUIDE DE L'UTILISATEUR ATARI (Éditions Sybex) - French Translation of Thomas Blackadar's book "The Easy Guide to Your Atari 600XL/800XL". There's a French speaking thread re: French A8 books here -> https://forum.system-cfg.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12960&p=251007 For a full list of French software on @www.atarimania.com -> https://www.atarimania.com/list_games_atari-400-800-xl-xe-p_total-page-step-country_192-1-200-7_8_G.html For a full list of French language books, I suggest @ldelsarte's web site -> https://www.atari800xl.eu/docs/kb/kb-culture-0002-books.html Also see this thread from @ebiguy (lots of us did chime in in this one)->

This is -to date- the only French Canadian A8 book I'm aware of and you seem to be the only person in the world (or close!) who has it in his collection.

I shall do that eventually. There is a canadian income tax program, lotto 6/49, etc. but most importantly an ice hockey card game, that I sold in a local store, can be found on the net as "Match Card Hockey". I now have the source code, with a "fast" version that loads the game instantly instead of seeing the "initializing" message for a long time. Most interesting are files related to "The Village", a true toy story that spanned over twenty years in my youth, involving my toys, about which I'm writing a book. Back then in the 70's I wrote journals about the Village's activities. A few of those activities were "computerized" in the '80s 🙂

So you're Claude, right? This title was found just very recently. Can you confirm the game was actually sold? Very cool to see you here! Do you happen to have any of the missing Meg Edu-Pro software or other commercial Canadian programs apart from yours?

Yes, I'm Claude Labelle. I sold about 5 copies of it at a local Atari shop that also sold flowers. I don't know of any other missing software. I have a never-released French copy and a newer English copy, plus game instructions, that were on my diskettes. Where is the best place to release them, for free of course, also with source code? GItHub??

If so, that would be a first. @www.atarimania.com - Would that be? All I can find here in French is "Trouve un Numéro" and it seems to be PD -> https://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-trouve-un-numero_39522.html In all cases, merci beaucoup @Perdrix24 !!
