frax Posted November 2, 2003 Share Posted November 2, 2003 My plan was to take the videopart from an ordniary PAL 8bit Atari computer and put this in my NTSC 5200 but, reading the FAQ I found this: There is space on the newer boards for circuitry for a PAL (European TV standard) version of the 5200.Also, on power-up, the monitor program checks for the PAL version by examining the GTIA register PAL after step 2 of the initialization routine. It also checks the cartridge program for PAL compatibility. The byte at $BFE7 should read $02 if compatible, or $00 if not. This is the only important change to the monitor program. Unfortunately I have the 2 port version Could someone please take a picture of the MB is the 4 port version, I really would like to see what it looks like. Also, is the PAL video out mentioned anywhere in the service manual? And last, what happend to the 4 port bios? I can only find the 2 port. /frax btw, who owns the 5200 PAL console proto.??
