Osgeld Posted September 8 Share Posted September 8 (edited) I love/hate this machine, I keep debating if I should sell it, but every time I pick it up something falls off of it, or out of it. Stupid brittle plastic and not all that good game performance! FOR SALE Dell Inspiron 7000. Pentium II 400Mhz, 192MB ram, 64GB IDE SSD 1.44MB FDD, DVD ROM, 15 inch 1024x768 TFT screen that is a real teat to look at! and ATI RAGE LT PRO AGP Graphics What makes it cursed? I paid 100 bucks for this machine with its original power supply. It claims its needs a 3.5 amp supply and came with a 1 amp no name supply which instantly died... after almost 2 weeks of delay from the seller vomiting excuses about not finding the power supply 🥵 Seller never disclosed the fact the video card cover was missing Quite a bit of arguing with ebay seller over the condition of the estate sale he claimed was his senile mother's fault (low bro, low) Seller stated it had a good battery, it only held 10 min of charge, its gone to the recyclers Removing battery the front cover crumbled Removing DVD+FDD module the FDD cover crumbled After buying and modifying a good name power supply, I noticed the power supply connector was loose from the PCB the GPU has just a bit more horsepower than a 3DFX voodoo 2 trying to drive a 1024x768 display I think this laptop has had its case stored in a wood drying kiln for like 20 years, if you look at the pictures those screen hinge covers are held in by luck and gravity consider all tabs snapped The machine itself runs great and I have fixed all electrical problems that I saw. It plays DVD's like a champ along with 2d games like its a pimp. BUT! thanks to the weak ass graphics card and the high res screen (that doesn't scale at all) you can expect something like quake 3 to run playable at medium quality with some options turned off ... meanwhile I am looking at my G4 tower that can run quake 3 maxed out all day long at 1920x1080, so I don't really need this machine ... though I want to keep its craptastic arse in the house .. 50 bucks + shipping, get it the hell out of my house, USA only please unless you really REALLY, REALLY want to pay for international postage Edited September 8 by Osgeld Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
