7800 advertising

OK - we all know Atari didn't exactly want to do much advertising for the Atari 7800. Of all Atari systems ever released, it got about the least commitment as far as marketing funds went. Atari spent next to nothing paying for print ads, tv ads etc.

That said, do you remember ever seeing 7800 ads anywhere besides the catalogues where Atari usually advertised their goods?

Here's what I remember seeing at the time:

1. The "Pick A fight After School" 2 page ads. These were in GamePRO and were featured when DOUBLE DRAGON, RAMPAGE, XENOPHOBE and COMMANDO came out. I don't have the ad anymore but it was a surprise to see Atari all of a sudden pushing the 7800 now that they had suddenly acquired some big titles.

2. The "Atari Advantage" ad. This was the same as the design on the posters that shipped with Atari games. I remember seeing it once in Video Games and Computer Entertainment.

3. "The Ikari Warriors" ad. Saw this towards the end of the 7800's life in GamePlayers. Bought the mag just to get the ad, though I no longer had the ad.

4. "The Alien Brigade" ad. Same issue. It was cool to see.

5. Unnamed ad. It was just a 7800 unit shot that I once saw in a Bat Man comic book.

Can you remember any others?

Mark
