Wrathchild
Hi all, This is a ROM version of 'The Eidolon' for testing in emulators. Currently it uses a MegaCart scheme (128KBytes) but I'll work on a Flash Cart version this weekend. Enjoy! Regards, Mark eidolon.zip

Randy California
the ROM of this game already is available online for emulators, I downloaded it from a site a long time ago and it plays fine on the 800win emu. You just made yourself pretty ridiculous. It's not the ROM you have, it's the disk image. Mark hacked the original version and made a cartridge out of it so it loads in one go. A fantastic job it is ++ RC ++
classics
You're nuts, but in a good way I'll give this one some play testing in the emulator... a perfect excuse to slack off!
The Eidolon
For some reason this thread keeps grabbing my attention from the corner of my eye. Not sure why. --The Eidolon
Wrathchild
You're nuts, but in a good way Flash cart image almost ready - can people actually totally re-blow their flash, i.e. replace all 128K, and then restore this later to a menu system, or does the cart need to retain it's loader? Just to confirm, the 128K cart uses $A000->$BFFF only, a write to $D5xx sets the bank if the value xx = $0->$F. Initial bank is zero, disabled by accessing $D51x). Any value >= $d520 has no effect? @Eidolon - had a feeling you'd like it  I've done a switchable XEGS version too to complete the family. Once testing is OK'd anyone is free to make & sell them - although it would be nice to get LucasArts permission first, I claim no royalty - but sending me a cart would be nice Thanks, Mark
Wrathchild
Just done the final debugging of the Flash cart swap routines and so here's the set of 3... A label competition (though I can't offer any prize) could follow, but I think the original artwork suffices? megacart.zip xegs.zip flash128k.zip

Yes the entire contents of the cartridge can be programmed and erased, it doesnt need to retain any 6502 code to work. The bank switching setup you describe is correct for the 1mbit cartridge. classics
Just done the final debugging of the Flash cart swap routines and so here's the set of 3... Just tried it on a real 1mbit flash cartridge and it works great, instant Eidolon cart. Nice work! I'll attach a ready to flash ATR image for 1mbit cart owners. A label competition (though I can't offer any prize) could follow, but I think the original artwork suffices? I'll throw in a couple flash carts for the winners. More than one design would be nice, and XEGS cart/XL cart labels are different sizes. Labels that fit the black cartridge cases are 2" x 1.3", with a little added for bleed, maybe 2.3" x 1.6". eidolon__maxflash_image_.atr.gz
