What is the best way to test Super Action Controllers ?

Super action controllers need to be adjusted once in awhile to work right. Here's what you do:

1. Take out all of the screws. There's 2 on the bottom plate and 2 in the handle. The plastic "shield" infront of your button fingers comes off with some finesse and lifting upward as you pull. There's a screw in there too. Now it should come apart in 2 halves and the button/joystick parts.

2. Looking at the joystick handle upside down, find the screw dead center of the black box underneanth the joystick handle.

3. Turn the stick on it's side. You'll see black and white plastic feet that push the metal contact when you move the stick. Tighten the center screw all the way, you will notice the white plastic moves away from the contacts. Now slowly back the screw off until the black, white and metal are aligned. If you think the contacts need cleaning, you need to remove all four screws on that bottom part. I have only done this once in like 10 years. adjustment usually does the trick.

3. The 4 fire buttons just need a shot of electronics cleaner and clean the grime off of the plastic button casing too since that can make them stick.

4. To clean the number pad, take off all four screws under the stick and the 2 on the circuit board at the bottom. Now remove the 4 screws that hold the pad. Clean the pad like any other. Again this hasn't been a problem for me after doing it once like 5 years ago. These electronics definietely aren't like the 5200 sticks that need constant cleaning.

5. Put everything back together. Try to find all of the screws that Coleco used. That's usually the hardest part. :) Sticks should work great now, test them on Frontline, it uses all of the buttons.

Now how do I get a Coleco flashcart?
