oesii
Found this ad over at a new atari site: http://www.atarimania.com I like it when people complain that there are too many consoles in the market. I think that when they get around $100-150 it's easy enough to pick them all up My favorite part of this ad is how they count the Atari 600xl, 400, and 800 (or even the 5200) as different machines. I'm sure the code for those games were very different
joeybastard
I rememebr those PB ads. When I only had a VCS I used to be jealous of good the computer versions looked Hey I was 10!
Artlover
Yeah! They were always kinda like those "one of these pictures isn't like the other" game. Having a 2600 back in the days sucked.
Lost Monkey
The kid is holding a CX-40 but the screen in front of him isn't labeled.. what version is that? O2?
Cootster
They never mention what version the kid is sitting in front of with a 2600 stick (when the 2600 version is to his right). O2? C64?
oesii
nope not O2, maybe Vic-20? I know it was released for the C64 at the same time as this ad, these PB boys got around

oesii
LOL I know, I was hoping your O2 guess was a joke
Lost Monkey
I think it would be a lot of fun to give a bunch of games the O^2 "treatment". Maybe that would be best realized in a separate thread...

That's a pretty good idea but I think the O2 did enough graphics butchering by itself, no need for mockups
NE146
Hey don't knock O2 Qbert and Popeye.. they were valiant attempts considering the hardware.. and not to mention highly desirable carts to find now! ..course you won't see me going out of my way to find them however
NE146
By the way.. I'm really liking that Atarimania site! thanks for the link!
oesii
I agree, the Qbert game play is great on the O2. Just not something you want to show in your company's ad promoting new games with their shiny graphics
+-^CrossBow^-
I am pretty sure the kid in that ad is playing the VCS version. I know the background is blue, but look at the font of the score, and buildings at the top. They pretty much look like the VCS version. I find that incredible, that this kid is not only playing about the worst graphically version of the game listed among the ad, but is also holding the correct joystick for that version. NovaXpress
The 400, 800 and 600XL editions are treated like separate games? Way to pad out the numbers guys.

It's gotta be the 2600, during the 'color cycling' mode.
Christophero Sly
I vividly remember this ad. It seemed like it was on the back page of every comic book I read in the early 80's. I agree with -^Cro§Bow^-. The kid is playing the 2600 version.
chrisbid
could the mystery screen be an Apple ][ version?
NovaXpress
How in the hell can anyone be debating over which version the kid is playing? You people have eyes don't you?
