Cootster
IMO: Generation 1: Channel F/2600/Arcadia Gray area between 1 and 2: INTV/CV/5200/Vectrex Generation 2: NES/SMS/7800 Generation 3: TG16/SNES/Genesis Gray area between 3 and 4: Saturn/Jag/NG/3DO Generation 4: PSX/N64/DC Generation 5: PS2/Cube/XB What muddles it are the attempts to move ahead that were aborted by the '84 crash' date=' or the attempts to move ahead from 93-96 or thereabouts that were marred by weak marketing, overpricing, lack of killer apps, etc. Where do those belong?[/quote'] I think DC should be 5 and 3D0 a 3 Classic and retro are both uncool I think. I usually refer to the related Bit, it makes sense as the number will continue to get higher and show age. 8 Bit 128 Bit Huge leap there Yeah, but not entirely correct. Remember, the X-Box (and the typical end-user PC it is based on) is technically only a 32-bit system. And the INTV is 16-bit, but certainly not as advanced as the SNES/Genesis . . .
