atari_sammysue
Bowling is one of my favorite games. Any one every hit a 300 or close to one. I am just starting to get down the curve. I would maybe like a sealed copy or cib copy to display....
sku_u
Sure, I've gotten quite a few 300 games. Bowling is one of my favorite games for the 2600.
Cootster
Yeah . . . I used to have a black mark on my screen showing the proper point to curve up on that variation . . .
bjk7382
Well, there is only 2 people in the TG Scoreboard to get a 300. And one of them is R. Corcoran from here. Maybe he could shed some light on how it is done if he sees this thread. TG Scoreboard for Bowling on 2600
Xot
I keep getting 235's. I'm always within a pin or two of the same score.
Christophero Sly
Bowling is one of my favorite VCS games. It's one of the first VCS games I remember playing back in the late 70's. The sound the game makes when you get a strike is seared in my memory...a moment of pure nostalgia whenever I hear it. One of these days I'm going to sit down and bowl a 300. uosipa llamxew
Has anyone tried this with a trak ball? It'd be interesting to know if the trak ball would reproduce the "Arcade Bowling" feel. :-)
Rocko
You guys actually like bowling? I tried it and it stunk, played a bunch of games and I couldnt get into it. Maybe I will try it agian.
Mr.FoodMonster
speaking of the trac-ball, do you think it would be possible to make a bowling game making real use of the trak-ball, like at the arcade? FP view, and you roll it and it changes force, speed, ect? That would be a very cool homebrew.
Brad2600
It could probably be done if the pins were seen from a 1st person perspective. I dunno if the 2600 could do this though. I love Bowling and I used to play that an awful lot when I was younger. I never did score quite well on it (just like in real life!) but it was still loads of fun to play. NE146
Yeah I scored a 300.. but I used PCAE (hint hint)
Lemmi
Yeah I scored a 300.. but I used PCAE (hint hint) cheater i used to get 300 games everytime i played bowling, its really easy if you stay at the bottom and at a certain point (you have to find a rhythm) press up on the controller and one time i had splilled a pop and some slashed on the TV and it left a spot right where i would press up on the controller
Agent X
I've also gotten a 300 score several times.

BatmiteReturns
Yes I've had quite a few 300's. I remember when I first bowled one back in the day on my real 2600. My father took a picture of it to show my brother as proof. There is a certain spot that you position the ball towards the bottom of the pins. As soon as it hits that spot you hold up on the joystick. It's a great game for the 2600. I'd love to see an updated version.

Trebor
Okay - hold it with all the replies... I have yet to hear the SKILL variation that people are using. I believe if you play Variation 3 you actually can control the movement of the bowling ball after you release it...Makes the game *A-LOT* easier...Sooooooo, make sure if/when replied you state which game variation of bowling you played. On game variation 3, I have achieved 300 a number of times...any other setting...well, I rather not comment
Scooterb23
I only play Game Variation 1...I've had one 300, and about 20 279s...I don't like the control your ball mode.
Inky
Why is it people like bowling a lot? It doesn't seem the kind of game on the 2600 that would be as popular (or fun) as it actually is. It sure is n addiciting title. And no, never gotten a 300 on it.

BatmiteReturns
I've had numerous 300 games on variation one. What is the point of bowling if you can control the ball after you release it? That's not bowling, that's radio controlled bowling
