MrRetroGamer
I'm trying to help someone troubleshoot a dead port #1 on a 4 port console using a known good controller, with no response of any kind. No bent pins on the port from a visual inspection. What is the best way to help them figure out if it's only that port that is dead or if it's a bigger problem like a POKEY or GTIA chip? They do not have access to a diag cart or any other special equipment. Thanks
jsoper
I'd replace the 4052 IC first, those go out a lot, and you can't start a game without it. They're socketed on some motherboards, otherwise you need to: clip the pins unsolder and pull the pins out one by one clean out the holes with solder wick install a dip socket and shiny new 4052. If that doesn't start the game, you need to check the bigger chips.
classics
Is there any analog response, or keypad response?
