jetset
Ok, I've decided to sell mine on Ebay.....BUT, I don't want it to wind up bought by someone who has one of the 4-port models that don't work with the adapter and force me to refund thier $$ or face getting a negative.....and I do not want to use "as-is" since that tends to scare buyers, plus I know it works..... Anyhoo, I searched the site here but didn't find anything SPECIFIC as as far as how to tell which 4-ports are incompatible (other than taking the unit apart and looking inside!) Is there any way to tell by the serial #'s on the outside so I can at least mention in my auction?
Scuttle130
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the serial number should have a "*" next to it.
sku_u
Why don't you just say that it will only work on 2 port models to avoid any newbie confusion? I also believe that the SN has an * next to it.

CPUWIZ
*** NOTE -- Owners of 4-port 5200 machines with an "*" as part ofthe serial number are in luck. Atari apparently made a small run of VCS-compatible 4-port units before changing over to the 2-port units. Does anyone ever look at the FAQ's anymore? moycon
I had a 5200 given to me (Yes given) It was about 18 years ago and a rich friend of mine who had moved on to the Apple IIe just gave me his 5200 because he never played it. It was a 4 port and had the 2600 adapter but it did work because it had been modified. I can recall him telling me about it, and there was a big-ass sticker on the bottom of the unit with a comment from some electronics store about the modification. I might still have that unit (I know Ive sold at least one 5200 maybe two) Anyone know what they would do to modify them?

Ebay must DARKEN the pictures big time! I checked my auctions at work today, and all three of mine are Waaaaaay darker than how they look on my home computer. Even the 2nd pic I took of the vcs adapter, which I took in a room with the curtains open, and the lights on looks mega dark!! Wonder why???
