procyon
Hey all. I've recently been bitten by a curiosity bug on how the original Pong worked. I'm more interested in the purely circuit driven Pong as opposed to the IC versions that came out later. I found the scanned articles on the www.pong-story.com site, but after describing the concept of a Pong game as if you were a two year old, they launch in to an explination of the circuit that seems meant for a masters in electrical engineering. I am a programmer, and as such, I suffer from the "I have no idea how it works, I just write code for it" syndrome. So can anyone direct me to any resources that break down each component of the Pong circuit, like the H and V Sync generators or the player and ball position circuits, and explain how they work? I have some basic understanding of how circuits work, and how a TV signal is generated, but not enough to understand those articles. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
