Instead of trying to save the people from being transformed into alligators, you could save them from being transformed into Zombies. Alligator People has some promise: I can see a Zombie hack made out of this game. The Transformation from person to alligator can be changed to transformation into a zombie. The alligators that move back and forth can be made into zombies. The main player sprite is a needle. What can this be changed to? There is no animation, just up/down left/right and diagonals.
