jeepnut24
Is there an alternative? Homebrew?
jsoper
Alternative how? What do you mean? The only 2600 game that supports trackball mode is Thomas J's hack of Missile Command. All the other games need the trackball set to joystick mode, so it is an alternative itself to the joystick (and not a very good one). True trackball lovers should get a 5200 or maybe a psone with the Arcades Greatest Hits series and the Nyko trackball.
jeepnut24
A joystick replacement would be fine really. Id rather use a trackball for centepede and millipede. I also want to stick to the 2600. I may look into hacking a mouse or trackball to output the four directions.
Max-T
Sorry to butt in... But is there a known solution for allowing the 5200 trackball to work on the 2600/VCS? I own both trackballs, and I love the 5200 'ball's build, look and feel. It makes the 2600 trackball look like a cheap suit. Just wondering... Thanks, and, again, sorry to intrude into this post. Stingray
What does the inside of one of these look like? Does it have encoder wheels & optical sensors like an arcade trackball or is the mechanism totally different? -S
