Thanks a bunch Vindicators has been the subject of considerable speculation since it was announced as a planned title for the Lynx, and I don't doubt that a playable demo of this game exists somewhere. I would, however, save your effort (and money) hunting this game down: Vindicators is one of those non-circulating protos that is simply not being made available to the general gaming community. There are, however, a number of other protos floating out there that are being circulated and sold -- and you'll probably run across most of these before ever seeing a working demo of Vindicators on cart. dgo
Ok thanks that explains why I never encountered it in my endless nightly searches across the www hunting for Lynx games too bad though! I'd love to bust up those tanks on my little Lynx (in comparison that is ) I wonder how they solved the controls: the original uses two joysticks to move... Clock
If you play the MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES version of Vindicaters on the modern consoles then you may get your answer. I always play using the Dpad to move and the 2 fire buttons for shooting and bombing. I don't bother to turn the turret of the tank ever. I would guess the Lynx will do something similar and just remove the turret turning option. Does anyone know if there is a working Lynx version somewhere, even if its not for sale? babble
Vindicators used to be one of my favourite games. Would be fantastic if they had made it, although fitting it all onto a small screen would have been tricky....
chris_lynx1989
this game has come up for discussion many times on this forum over the years it seems. there may be some code of this on a drive from atari. there may even be an eprom card with a small demo of this--probably a very small demo! supposedly this game was destroyed and canned at about the very same time it seems in 1991/2. only if someone like steve ryno or eric ginner or even jerome strach(or someone else from the atari lombard group?) having an eprom of this or an old drive or disk would you possibly find it. the only bit of code on this that i've heard that exists is the stuff that carl claims to have found on his howard board setup. this is supposedly some of the original arcade game source that atari got from atari games to do their conversion over to the lynx format. carl stated having some source of this several years ago. a jump from arcade source to lynx game "rom image" code is a bit of a leap to do so that you see it on a lynx screen though. it could be done by a talented lynx coder out there though. just takes patience and a bit of old time lynx enthusiast love--really a lot of lynx love! i'm not sure what carl has planned for his vindicators source code, could he be thinking of doing a port over at some point? ask him.--the lynxer
