LYNX I decision & Vec.

Hi All,

I am just new to collecting Lynx games. I have around 25 games in their boxes which I was lucky enough to get for $5 or nder. I have a Lynx II and I really like it and games such as Stunrunner and Steel Talons are just super cool. There is a Lynx I (the first model) down the road at a second hand shop for AU$50 (U.S.$40). I just thought I would ask the group is it worth it at this price or is this paying a bit too much?

The other thing I really like abput the Lynx is that it is still being supportred through homebrews. My other favourite console is the Vectrex and this is also still being supported by some hardcore programmers. My favourite Vectrex homebrew is a great little Defender clone called Protector, it's on a cart with another SpaceInvaders clone. These games are just great in vectors. Anyhow my new hobby is the Lynx and I love it. Maybe I should buy that Lynx down the road for $50??

Regards,

Daniel.

Welcome to the Lynx world! It's a great li'l machine, isn't it?

My advice to you, re: Lynx I, would be to check eBay. It can be a good way to determine market price.

In my opinion, $40 US may be a bit steep, for a system with no games. I paid $55 for a Lynx II with 8 games, but that was a couple years ago. Usually, the Lynx I sells for a bit less than the II.

Either way, have fun collecting. The Lynx is a good system for that, since there are a decent number of games and demos out there to collect. It's easier with a system that's not in the mainstream anymore. You can actually complete a Lynx collection (until the next game comes out, of course.) At last count, I show 96 games/demos out for the system. I'm sure that's a matter of debate, but it's in the ballpark.

Welcome to the Lynx community!

That sounds a bit expensive to me for a stand alone Lynx, but I can only compare to UK prices and the Lynx may cost more in Australia.

Although 25 games under $5 each sounds pretty damn good to me.

Oh and welcome to AtariAge :D
