Disk file -> CAS file conversion?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a basic program, the football manager game 'Liverpool',

that I have on tape. I've loaded this onto my real Atari and it

works. However, when running the game with DOS loaded it doesn't

work due to the memory loss of using DOS. However it was OK to

both 'save' an 'list' the file to disk.

I can make an image of this disk using my PC, but can I then

somehow extract and turn the .bas file into a CAS file that

could then be loaded into an emulator using CLOAD?

Thanks,

Mark

well,

there once was a type-in listing in Analog or antic - for exactly this purpose. You boot an Autorun.SYS file and convert the tape to disk (using CLOAd to load the Basic file from tape and then CSAVE to save to disk, yes disk!). Loading the disk then is also quite easy: boot the disk with Basic, when the READY prompt appears, type in CLOAD and press RETURN (you will notice, that the program loads very fast from disk not from tape)... This program can also be used to transfer files from various DOS versions... Well, I have the program in my collection - so e-mail me if you are interested. I will return a zipped ATR image with the program file(s) and some docs to get you going... -Andreas Magenheimer.

Well, I located the right box in the loft and so here's the file.

Use the CAS file in an emulator with Basic enabled - it needed the

SIO patch left on. Boot up to the READY prompt and type CLOAD

and then ENTER twice. When the READY prompt returns, type RUN

to play. The ATR is included, but as mentioned I don't think you

can't play from disk.

Not a bad game as it goes... may be worth setting up the teams

for the next season :D

Regards,

Mark
