MattG/Snyper2099
So when I power it up there is just a blank blue screen. I've read the FAQ on the net but that doesn't help since there is no audio or video at all. The 4318 chip gets very, very hot on the PCB though. (Hot enough to melt plastic!) I know this can't be a good sign. Could the CPU or (something else) chips be bad? Help! Sorry for my lack of knowing what chips are even on the board. They are all socketed if that's any help. MattG/Snyper2099
I had a revelation. The chip that is getting hot could be the TIA chip but I'm not sure how many pins the TIA chip has. Either way, should components be getting that hot? Seems to me that if that was normal opperating temp., there would be heatsinks on those puppies! Flashback #2600
Maybe the service manual could help. http://archives.atarimuseum.com/archives/a...chdocs-2600.htm
Tsukasa
FYI: The TIA has 40 pins, and is part number CO10444. Make sure that the notches on the ends of the chups match up with the notches on the sockets. Putting a chip in backwards may cause overheating.
