figgler
You can jump in the NES version by pressing A+B, but it has to be a jump-kick.
Serblander
Hmm... I never thought about the term 'Beat'em'Up' applying to only fighting games with multiple attackers, but, it does make sense OK, so: Favourite Fighting games: Mortal Kombat II (Arcade -Version 1.2) My ALL-Time fave Street Fighter 2 (Arcade) Karateka (Apple IIe - haven't played the Atari 7800 version) Favourite Beat'em'Ups: Shadow Warriors (Arcade) Double Dragon (Arcade) And last (but by no means least)... IK+ (Atari ST) But, how would you classify this one? Fighter or Beat'em'up??? Remember, you had to constantly fight 2 other fighters! (Hehe... this should be interesting )
King Atari
Karateka (Apple IIe - haven't played the Atari 7800 version) And you don't want to! Karateka is meant to be played with a keyboard. The 7800 doesn't have one. The result? A complete mess. Strangely enough, the NES got a playable version of Karateka using only two buttons, why couldn't the 7800? It seems kind of slow, but at least you're in control of your fighter at all times and you always know what to do, which is more than can be said for Karateka 7800. Sega Ages
A lot of good beat-em-ups over the years... Streets Of Rage 2 Vendetta (arcade) The Ninja Warriors (arcade) Cadillacs And Dinosaurs Knights Of The Round Golden Axe 1,2,3 Alien Storm Black Belt (sms) Vigilante (arcade & pc engine) TMNT (arcade & snes) Shadow Warriors (arcade) Aliens vs. Predator (arcade) Double Dragon 1,2 (but 3 sucked bigtime, add coins to buy weapons? gimme a break) Not listing 1-on-1 fighting games of course... Gabriel
Streets of Rage 2 is the best of all time.
figgler
I just played through POW again for the first time in years. The ending is priceless. "Congraturation!" then it shows you snuggling some unnamed chick. As I recall, the ending of Final Fight is also suitably cheesy
Xot
The Ninja Warriors (arcade) . What is about this game that so many people have it on their lists? I HATED it back in the day... in fact, I hated it so much that I even passed on the opportunity to buy the arcade game (the THREE MONITOR version) for $50. (Okay, looking back, that was clearly a mistake, but I didn't have space for it either....)
ultravi0let
for me it has to be: Super StreetFighter II [sNES] King of the Fighters Soul Edge [PS1] Marvel V's Capcom II [DC]
