non painted Lynx 1s

Here in Europe the Lynx 1 is made of plastic and not painted. I undertand that in North America the Lynx 1 is painted. As far as I know these painted Lynx 1s were never available in Europe

 

Were the non painted Lynx 1s available in North America?

 

What material is the painted Lynx made of? plastic or metal?

Both Lynx versions sold in the US are made from plastic. Is the Lynx 1 in Europe a different color than the US version?

Lynx 1 is light grey

correction - now I've just dug it out of the cupboard its darker than I remember.

 

Its sort of medium to slightly dark grey. The buttons are black.

The American Lynx 1 has three colors that I have found (I have over 10 lynx units).

 

Colors I have found undere the paint:

1 - light grey

1 - dark grey

1 - white (this is the really rare type - I have one friend that has one of these)

I've got two lynx 1s here both PAG 0201 one is painted grey over a chrome finish the other is grey coloured plastic strange as the serial numbers are very close to each other

My grey plastic Lynx 1 is model number PAG-0200

Both of my PAG-0201's are of the grey paint over chrome over white plastic with black buttons variety. Now say it 3 times real fast.

 

I used to have one of grey button lynxes.

I would guess the reason domestic Lynx's are painted is due to a metallic shielding layer added to the plastic (FCC?).
