King Atari
I've been noticing in ebay auctions and from local searching that there's often variations of the NES seal of quality on a cart. One will have the circualar one, one will have the oval one. Is this normal? What is it, just different pressings, or what? I've been looking at Mega Man's on ebay, and noticed that one has the circular seal, and the other has the white oval seal. The one I scored today has the oval shaped seal. I don't get it, why change them? Just to keep it up to date?
Raijin Z
Which do you think is easier to read?
Raijin Z
Oh yeah, these are both scanned at 300 dpi, not resampled.
King Atari
Ahhh, so it was done to make it easier on the eyes, eh . Thanks Nintendo. Was this done with a lot of games?
Bruce Tomlin
Which do you think is easier to read? The one with better contrast.
Raijin Z
I would assume all licensed NES games just used whatever seal Nintendo said to use. If a game was being printed during the change, I also assume the seal would have been changed mid-run, and that would account for the same title having different seals, not counting rereleased games like Metroid. junglehunter
Wasn't there also a silver seal of quality? I remember my copy of Mike Tyson's Punch Out having it.
Raijin Z
Beats me, I only have a couple dozen NES games at most, and Punch Out ain't one of them.
Jasoco
I like the top one better. Less info is better, and the white looks nicer than the black.
