mehunglo
There doesn't seem to be much information on fixing lynx's. I have a few Lynx 2 boards that don't power up. I've seen the schematics for the first lynx. That hasn't helped. If there is anyone out there that had the same problem (no power) and successfully repaired. Could you let us know how you did it? Shawn Jefferson
Search the Lynx forum for "Q12" or "lynx not working". Q12 controls the on-off for the unit and is a very common part to go. Anyone been able to source a replacement? My Lynx II needs a Q12, too.
Susuwatari
This is an old and long running issue with Lynx 2's. Unfortunately I have not heard of any spare replacement transistor.
+karri
This is a very common part that is still available from Motorola. From the RS online catalog www.rsfinland.com Description Transistor, TMOS, power FET, MTD3055VL RS Stock No. 348-5173 Manufacturer MOTOROLA Part No. MTD3055VL For quantities of 5 + €0.64 You can easily order it via mail from the UK RS-office. I usually get my components ordered via internet from the UK head quarters and delivered to the closest local RS-shop in Finland. The I don't have to pay anything for delivery I have not tried that component myself as I have no broken Lynx units. But according to the schematics the component is a power FET by Motorola called MTD3055. -- Regards, Karri
mehunglo
Are there any places in the U.S. where I could get it? Thanks
+karri
By clicking on Worldwide link on the RS electronics page and then on the US link I got to an online shop in Texas called Allied electronics. http://www.alliedelec.com/ I assume that they can provide the same service for the US. Just guessing... -- Regards, Karri
crc_73
I was looking at the schematics here for Q12, but couldn't find it on the pages. I could find a Q11 (MTD3055E) in the lower left corner page. Is this it?
+karri
It is called Q11 in the Lynx 1 and Q12 in the Lynx 2. But it is the same component. When the power is off it keeps the entire Lynx at the positive voltage. When you press the power-on button the Q11 will short the electronics ground to the battery ground. So it is really just an electronic switch. -- Karri
