For those who are itching for another label contest, we are going to launch a new contest in a few days to design a label for the upcoming Krokodile Cart.  The winner of the contest will receive a free Krokodile Cart, which will have a price of around $99.  :)

So what is the difference between it and the krok? who plays more games?

I think the cuttle cart plays more games.

Differences are:

* KC is a multicart CC is not

* KC will be available CC is no more (or are you selling yours ?)

* KC downloads games much faster

* KC plays 3F games up to 512K CC up to (damn i don't know but less than 512K)

* KC plays EF , CC does not (=> Homestar RPG)

* CC plays E0,E7,FE and Starpath KC does not (and maybe another bs mode I forgot)

They are just a bit different :-)

So what are the advantages / disadvantages of the KC compared to the CC2?

Well, first, keep in mind that the Krokodile Cart is half the price of the Cuttle Cart 2. With that in mind, the CC2 is a 7800 cartridge that supports both 2600 and 7800 games. It also uses an external memory card (MMC) and has a nice, on-screen menu for selection of games, options, viewing of manuals, and so forth. The Krokodile Cart has 512K of onboard flash memory, that must be programmed by plugging the Krokodile Cart into a computer (using a serial connection) and with the Krokodile Commander software.

The Krokodile Cart is a 2600 only cartridge and only supports 2600 games. Both devices support a wide range of bankswitching modes, with each supporting a few the other device does not. One unique feature of the KC is that it allows you to create multicarts using the Krokodile Commander software. You can create multicarts that support 4K, 8K, 16K, and 32K games. A multicart of 4K games will hold up to 127 titles. When you fire up the cart, you see an onscreen menu of all the games loaded onto the cart. Once programmed, the Krokodile Cart acts as a normal 2600 cartridge.

Right now the Krokodile Commander software is a Windows application, but Andrew Davie is working on a Java app that should run on other platforms.

Will the KC work with a 7800 ?

Good question, I haven't tried my prototype cart on a 7800 yet, but I'll give this a shot and see what happens.
