Repair 2600

It sounds like the power jack is busted. You should be able to pick up a new one for around a buck. You will need to open up your Atari, unsolder the old connector and solder in the new one. If you don't any have soldering experience you may want to find a friend that does.

No, he's saying that the actual port in the back is screwed up... even if he gets another power supply, he'll still have the same problem. My suggestion would be to open up the Atari and re-solder the jack if it's not too badly damaged (There's likely just a loose connection with the circuit board) unless the thing is eaten up so badly that it's impossible.

 

However, since you mentioned that you're not exactly a solder jockey, I'd recommend just putting it to the side for now and using a different Atari until you find someone who can help you with the soldering. There's no point in risking the Atari itself... I'm sure you probably have a bunch of Atari's if you already have 600 games (Hell, I only have about 130 games, and I've got 5 or 6 of the things)
