jpv108
Just a quick question...Is there a quick way to increase the frame rate of z26 on Windows XP (Professional)? I have been using version 1.51 of z26 with the GameMenu front end. Thanks in advance.
Genki
Try updating the video. Seriously, the original video driver that comes with XP are often slow and flawed. When I first ran glTron after upgrading to Windows XP, I was getting pathetic 1 fps rate but when I used the update option (Control Panel => Add and Remove program) and downloaded a newer video driver for XP, everything ran nicely and smoothly. Also faster CPU and more RAM would help as XP is more of a system hog than any previous Windows.
jpv108
Thanks. I'll try that tonight. I have a P4 1.4 with 128mb RAM and z26 was running nicely on Windows ME. Thanks again.

Hee hee hee... but PCs don't handle the video directly like the 2600 do. 2600's hardware is wacky enough that emulating it perfectly on a 1GHz PC is still a challenge. Ever try a true emulation of any vector based games in Mame or a Vectrex emulator?
+Mitch
You have to use a command line switch like "-r90" after you type in Z26, but substitute the frame rate you want for 90. You probably want to start at around 60 and keep increasing it till you find one that's good for your system. jpv108
I updated my video driver and unfortunately that didn't work. Does anyone else have a slow frame rate with XP and can help? Or should I just wait for a new version that may fix this? Thanks.
