64squares
I was looking at how NES games connect to the 72 pin today, and it looks like to me that only one side of the contacts, the back side, connect with the pin. Is this true? If it is it would save me from scrubbing the front side contacts to perfection. Thanks in advance for your reply. pmpddytim
If it is it would save me from scrubbing the front side contacts to perfection. Why not just clean the whole thing? Its not like its hard or anything. Also the less dirt that comes in contact with the inside of your machine the better IMO. -Tim
64squares
I would still clean them, just not to perfection like I have been.
egdinger
I think they both contact, its just the top doesn't get rubbed with as much force. That sounds kinda strange, but if you've ever seen how the nes connecter works it makes sense. I would clean both.
King Atari
Definitely clean both sides, even though the back side seems to get the most crap on it. It's not like it could hurt, anyways.
MegaManFan
It's simple enough to clean both sides, since if you hold a q-tip firmly the top side will be scrubbed by the bottom of it, and the reverse when you go underneath. Then you'll flip to the end without rubbing alcohol to dry, and do the same thing. Gets even more gunk. Usually one cleaning will do, but at least once I had a cart that took 6 to work (and an SNES cart that didn't work even after 10).
