Albert
/development_list.htmlWe've just learned about two new games in development for the Atari 2600, Euchre by Erik Eid (aka Nostalgic) and Laseresal 2600 by Andrew Wallace. Euchre is an adaptation of the card game of the same name that is popular in the midwestern and northeast United States. Laseresal is a game where two players sit on opposite sides of the screen (top and bottom), and the objective is to blast each other through a field of rocks and other debris. You can learn more about these games by visiting our Games in Development page, and specifically, the pages for Euchre and Laseresal 2600. Thanks to Glenn Saunders for bringing these games to our attention.
StanJr
Wahoo! I love it when new Atari games are announced! I'm looking forward to both, although I don't know how to play Euchre (my Uncle played it a lot with my Dad and friends) so an instruction manual is in order! The Night Phantom
AtariAge's Laseresal 2600 page and the author's own page about the game are somewhat vague on the identity of the arcade game that inspired this effort. It looks like the original was Space Laser (a.k.a. simply Laser). How should we pronounce “Laseresal”? Knowing would help the word-of-mouth! Right now I'm leaning toward a pronunciation reflecting the word's palindromic nature: LAY-zur-ZAYL.
StanJr
I thought it was (LAY-zur-eh-sal)?

Fear not... I will be putting together a manual to go with the game.
Genki
Would you be offering 2 different version of the manual for the Euchre game? One for the experienced player, and one with a For Dummies book included for the new player? Euchre is actually easy to play and it's quite fast paced game [ 11-11-2001: Message edited by: wi1ykat ]

However, they'll still want to read it to learn how to play the 2600 version - the rules won't be different, but there will be instructions on how to use the paddle controller within the game. I'll probably model the manual after the Backgammon or Video Chess manuals. [ 11-11-2001: Message edited by: Nostalgic ]
