Mock
Any tips on setting up MAME with XP Pro? I have always used WIN 98SE in the past...going to set a new box up with XP Pro...this will only be used as a MAME box...so...anyone have any advice? Or should I just go with another OS? What do you guys think is best here?

AtariYoungin
Might be better asked at the MAME.net forums or at www.arcadecontrols.com I currently have a mame cab with XP Pro and it works like a charm
dgo
Same here, I've used various Mame versions on XP( as well as Windows 95/98/2000) My mamecab runs on Windows XP as well, without any problems. As long as you use the latest versions of the available windows based Mame ports, and see to it you machine has enough processor power and memory to run the games your after, I can't think any special advice is needed. I think fo your choice of OS will be decided mostly on the periphals/networking/other apps/upgradabilityissues. For mame, I don't see any real issues NOT to use XP. Except maybe for performance if you want you've got an older PC and need Mame in DOS mode to squeeze out max processor efficiency. Ports like Mame32/mame32plus/advancemame (which are basically Mame with a GUI) are very mature and run flawlessly under any windows OS. Of course this goes for the win32 version of Mame as well, which you can combine with any frontend of your liking.
Mock
ok I have MAME working perfect now...I'm ready to do the other EMU's now...should I go with MESS or STELLA or what would you guys recomend? I'd like to put 2600, 5200, 7800, Coleco, and as many of those type EMU's on there as possible... I have the NES emulator on there already...works great. It's going to be cool to have a dedicated box that has all this on it in one place...pretty happy with it so far.
