King Atari
Taking from my "Frogger vs. Frogger II" post, here's another vs. thread. So, do people like "Basketball" or "Double Dunk" more? Personally, I think both are great, the original was great in its simplicity, but the 1989 game was amazing, they crammed a lot of stuff in there. Overall, "Double Dunk" is probably my fav, but what does everybody else here think?
utamav91
The original basketball wasn't bad, but it's all we had. Double Dunk is simply amazing. That's where my character at left comes from. The key is to not run the same play twice and rebound like there's no tomorrow. If you can't consistently clean the glass, you're toast. If you can't sink the three, the CPU will make you look silly. It's one of the more challenging Atari games as far as not being able to beat the CPU player too easily. And unlike today's games, there's no "sweet spot" to automatically score from (NHL 94-99 come to mind) Unfortunately, Double Dunk came out way after most people had given up on Atari, and NES games were the big seller. I bought my copy of it in 1989, 3? years after Nintendo came out.
Atari-Jess
i dont like sports games but the later 2600 games are simply an amazing thing. I really like Fatal Run and want to get a copy of it. (heh even though it is a 32k game) Id actually like to collect all of ataris post 84 2600 games. Double Dunk is just a marvel of the 6507. King Atari
I've been looking for "Fatal Run" as well, it's kind of like a suped-up "Pole Position".
Spector
Double Dunk has to be the better of the two. It's too good.
Ze_ro
Sorry guys... as far as I know, Fatal Run is only available in PAL. I hope someone will prove me wrong though, because it's definitely an awesome game. --Zero
