nems
Inspired by the pioneering work of others, I built my own custom adapter allowing the use of PC joysticks and the 2600 keypad, on the 5200. Notice the 5200 joystick knob added to the Gravis gamepad (great for Pitfall II and Montezuma's Revenge). Here's a close up of the adapter. I hook up this Gravis joystick for games that require a true analog stick (e.g. Galaxian). For my next project, I want to build a box with a built in keypad (from an old phone), and have two connections: one for PC Joysticks and one for the 2600 joystick. Anyone forsee a problem doing this? Can I just wire up the two joystick ports (and electonics within the box), and as long as I'm only pluging in one type of joystick at a time I'll be okay? Or do I need to put a switch inline somewhere?
RangerG
You should check out Voltman's webpages where he made keypads out of old phones and where he made modified joystick/trackballs. I assume they are still up, I will check around for them. Nice work!
RangerG
I assume you already know about his stuff and it was easy enough to find (at the AA links). Check it out: http://www.atariage.com/links/index.html?cat=2 Voltman isn't as active now on the forums and I don't know if he can be contacted by computer. I did get to meet him at CGE 2004 so he is alive and well and a great 5200 fan!!

82-T/A
Very nice.. well done. Looks good!! I could totally use something similar on the Atari Jaguar... I just have a really hard time getting used to these controllers in games that should have a joystick... It's like trying to play Syndicate without a mouse!
