Retrofan
Would it be possible to make little animations to (8K-) Amidar? And a slightly different stripes pattern? Here are my suggestions: hack: original:
Nukey Shay
Might be possible for the animations (this can easily be accomplished if there is a full page of memory that you can reclaim - every Nth frame use the alternate GFX by dropping down the indirect addresses by a page). The striped pattern is another matter...since the display kernal is designed to work with even intervals - skipping every 3rd would require more coding to the kernal (or maybe an alternate kernal portion that it can branch to). Timing would be tricky there.
Retrofan
The original Amidar skips every 2nd and then 3rd scanline (shifted). I don't know why it has this complicate pattern. But this would be the minor change to the original. More Important are the animations, I think. The not animated players in the original looks dead and boring. Little animations would help to make the game more attractive. Could you (if you have time for it) expand the game to 8K and integrate some graphics? please, please
RangerG
If you could speed the game up, I think Amidar would be a really fun game. I actually like the gameplay of it, but it is too slow.
StanJr
Thomas Jentzsch already did. Its a hack called Amidar DS and you don't want it! Its FAST! http://atariage.com/hack_page.html?SystemI...ftwareHackID=91 enjoy!
Feralstorm
a little animation would be nice, along with a LITTLE extra speed. A couple things that could potentially be added from the arcade version (hopefully without a huge memory/rom hit) would be the different logic for the paint roller round (you have to build on the boxes you've already filled.) or the bonus game between rounds, where you try to predict the motion of an enemy going from one side of the screen to the other.
