Tempest
I sent Al the PAL Save Mary rom and he has put it in the zip file with the NTSC one. Enjoy! http://www.atariage.com/2600/roms/SaveMary.zip Tempest
Thomas Jentzsch
CloneSpy says: 0 1 0 SaveMary_PAL······· · 97 1 SaveMary_NTSC······ = · So both ROMs are very identical.
CPUWIZ
So both ROMs are very identical. No, both ROM's are very similar. Identical is 100% and 'very identical' doesn't exist.

Tempest
Since the PAL version is dated much later than what we assume the final NTSC rom to be (91 actually), I assume it was just a straight conversion job. I didn't think they would add anything. So the fact that they're only 3% different doesn't surprise me. Tempest

So I suppose they only changed the framerate and the colors, but didn't adapt the game speeds.
Tempest
Wouldn't surprise me if it was a half assed conversion. This was done REALLY late in the 2600 game. It is however, the final PAL version (you can tell by the EPROM label) and not some programmer fooling around. This was the best Atari was going to do. How does it play vs. the NTSC one?
