ignernt
The 5200's power switch is on the sticky, where sometimes I'll press it and it won't turn on and sometimes it won't turn back off. This happens for the most part when I push straight down. If I somewhat slide my finger over the switch while pushing down it operates correctly most of the time. How hard is it to replace this switch? I removed the cover tonight to look for the color adjustment pot and took notice of the switch. It looks like two connections in and out. I have another 5200 en route so this will more than likely end up being my backup system, so if it's very involved I'll just let it go. Ferris
It may just be the switch its self. Unscrew the 5200 and lift off the top system shell. Flip it over and pop out the plastic power button. Give it a good cleaning and sand around it softly and clean it off one more time. Reassemble the system and see how well it works. If it's still sticking then its the switch component on the motherboard not the plastic switch mechanics.
ignernt
It's definitely the mechanic part of the switch, because when I had to cover off to adjust the color I used my finger to activate the swich and it was sticky then too.
ignernt
In other words the part that's on the motherboard. Why can't you edit your posts in this forum?
classics
Replacing the switch is not difficult, you will need to desolder the connections on the bottom side of the board and it will just lift out. Finding a suitable replacement is another matter. I think you would have to get one from another non-working 5200. A quick google turns up this place that claims to have them for $7.50 each. http://www.orphanvideogames.com/replacement_parts.htm Never purchased anything there myself, so I cant really recommend.
