Ian Primus
My Mario Bros cart is annoying. The &%$# thing doesn't fit into the Atari. You can get it in if you force it, but it's hard to get it out again. I compared it to another cart, and it actually is a bit thicker than normal carts. Anyone have any ideas as to why this thing is bigger than normal? It's an Atari made cart. I can't even play it in my 7800, seeming as though it has a slightly smaller slot. Is this normal? Thanks. King Atari
In the 1986-90 period, Atari made the carts a little thicker. You'll also notice that the dust cover in the slot is gone. Also, the pegs in these games break easier, as they can be bent easily. So, yes, this normal. Any cart made during the 2600's later years by Atari will have this problem. My advice is just to take good care of it when inserting it, to protect the pegs.
