sega saturn x
It's not so much porting an already existing arcade game to the Jaggy, rather it's an opportunity of tapping in the competitive edge of making games for the Atari Jaguar. Pretend that you're Jaguar is an arcade system and you've been given the opportunity to make a game for this arcade system; what kind of game would it be? What kind of features what you give it attract people to play? It's more or less adopting a new/fresh attitude about the Jaguar as a means of redefining the Jag in this present time. What was it that defined Atari's\ most popular arcade hardwares...? It was the games. I think Trevor McFur was a great looking game and showed a lot of potential in what the Jaguar was/is capable of doing despite the odds. Why not take it to the next level and see just how far the system can be pushed. 874458 You know i could pretend my dreamcast was an arcade unit to but that dosent make it one. What you're saying really dosent make a lot of sense you want to pretend that your jaguar is an arcade system because it can use 2 old atari aracde boards? Clearly your logic if vastly superior to mine because i didnt understand any of what you are trying to do or say.
walter_J64bit
What arcade games are you talking about? The jaguar seems very very light in terms of arcade games. I can only think of 1 and thats raiden. I dont think the 2000 games really count since they never went to arcades. 874163 Why do I bother Hmmm let see you do have Raiden but let's look at Tempest 2000 it has Tempest arcade/Traditional hmmm there's more Brakeout 2000 it has guess what Brakeout oh there's more Hmmm let see Missile Command 3D oh it has Missile Command not done yet Defender 2000 look see what do you know it’s Defender Gorf is in the works I can go on jagmania/pacmania, Asteroids, Dragon's Lair, Primal Rage and I didn’t get them all! Starcat
Hi! Personally I wouldn't consider the Jag an "arcade console"... Neo Geo is a true arcade console. Just because a system has a few games that could also be found in the arcades doesn't make it an arcade system... I mean if you see it that way, almost every system is an arcade system.. There were arcade games for the atari and commodore homecomputers, for PCs, for VCS, for the Jag, for all the sega systems, for all the nintendo systems, for Neo Geo of course, for PC Engine, for PSX, for 3DO. Really for almost every more or less successful system out there you can find ports of arcade games. Regards, Lars.
philipj
I wasn't so much speaking in terms of remaking arcade games for the Jaguar, but here you have a system well more powerful then even the Neo Geo. I used the arcade as a reference in terms of what it would take to make the very best video games for the Atari Jaguar 64. Arcade games are typically made for one purpose and one purpose only and that's to get people to play pump their machine with quarters thus there's always a competitive-ness to the art of making the very best games for a certain system that a company truly beleives in. As a result, some of the most innovative games push the limits what a game hardware can do. In a way I was speaking in terms of innovation for the Atari Jaguar; new games for the Jaguar 64. philipj
Also... The video game phenomenon as we know it today started in the arcades as we all know. I would like to see that same innovation for the Jaguar. I think the Jaggy deserves it.
