Kangaroo/Donkey Kong

Has anyone ever hit upon the idea of hacking Kangaroo into a DK game? I think Kangaroo is a much better game than the Coleco version of DK for the VCS, maybe if the sprites were turned into Mario and DK characters it would be an even better game?

I don't think the Kangaroo code recognizes the concept of a sloping surface. You always have to jump to a different vertical level or you fall.

That was true for the Kangaroo Arcade game as well. Too bad the 2600 version doesn't have the boxing gorilla from the arcade version, as that would make a fine DK stand-in.

 

The main difference overall between DK and Kangaroo is that Kangaroo was as much about punching as jumping.

It could be a DK/Kangaroo hybrid called "Kongaroo", people would say it was second to Fonz as the best game ever

You could probably change Kangaroo to Donkey Kong and make the joey into DK Jr. or Diddy Kong and change the monkeys to some enemy in DK Country. Ain't no way you'll make it like the original arcade game.

Those ideas a great No doubt Kongaroo would be better than DK
