Pipercub
Anyone desoldered the on board ROM and put it on a cart carrier yet to see if it works on a 2600?
jaybird3rd
Anyone desoldered the on board ROM and put it on a cart carrier yet to see if it works on a 2600? 916810[/snapback] No, but I doubt that would work ... that onboard ROM contains 40 game programs, which is a LOT larger than the 2600's cartridge port can address without some serious bankswitching hardware (which is likely not built into the ROM). I suspect that the closest you can come would be to dump the entire ROM into one file, open it up, and figure out where the games within it begin and end, extract the ones you want, and build your own 2600 cartridges. I'd be curious to know whether anyone has attempted to do this with the new games in particular (Yars' Return, etc).
Lord Helmet
The only reason I'd liek to see the roms dumped is so some of the taleted programers and hackers on this board can fix the screen rolls in games like Asteroids Deluxe.
