moderntimes99
Hi! Are there any plans for when the PAL version of the Flashback2 will be released? Is it designed already or will there be time to sort out some of the compatibility issues before it goes into production? (Personally, I'm most concerned about H.E.R.O, Pitfall 2, Defender II/Stargate and Activision Checkers, but it would be nice if it also could support Galaxians, Dig Dug and Berzerk) At least I hope that the development of the PAL version of the Flashback2 has higher priority than the NTSC version of the Flashback3! :-) What are the chances that the list of games will be updated for the PAL version? I would definitely be willing to pay a much higher price if the following games were included - (actually *all* of my Top 10 Atari 2600 titles are missing in the NTSC version!): Thrust H.E.R.O Man Goes Down RealSports Tennis Pitfall2 Edtris Midnigt Magic My Golf Defender II/Stargate KLAX JR Pac Man Moon Patrol Ice Hockey (Activision) QB Gravitar (Especially, it would be a great mistake of Atari to not accept the conditions required to include Thrust on it!) Ferris
I believe there are plans for a PAL version. I'm sure Curt will chime in soon. Justin BTW - Thomas, that's very upsetting to me that Thrust will not be on any of the Flashback 2 units. I was more excited to see that game on FB2 than anything else, even the new CX40s. It's a shame Atari was not able to cut a square deal. Thrust would have been the most popular title on there by far. The games you listed are mostly 3rd-party properties and aren't going to be included without a fresh batch of legal negotiations. We got River Raid and Pitfall, you should be happy with that ... Pray they don't alter the deal. You could be getting Air-Sea Battle, Fun with Numbers, Math Gran Prix, Football, Home Run, and Canyon Bomber. seemo
If I could choose an homebrew for Flashback 2 PAL I'd choose Oystron. That's a great game. Simone

But it's not truly global...it's kind of like this: 1 person in the USA (Lord Helmet) + the rest of the world

moderntimes99
No Thrust, sorry. 922454 This only makes the compatibility issues more important to sort out. Anyone that knows if Thrust runs on the FB2 (with cartridge mod)? Regards, "Moderntimes99"

Shawn
Football is a sport more known to be played with a so called "Soccer" ball than a "Pig Skin" if you judge on a worldwide basis IMO. Curt Vendel
OKay... looks like a PAL version will be coming out in the next couple of months once the holiday crunch is over and things can be retooled. Will keep everyone posted. I will also tell you this as well... the programmers that did the new games for the FB2, they were assembly skilled programmers, but never touched a 2600 before March 05' I think they did a remarkable job for the time they had and as much as I would have loved to have had our very own homebrewers doing these games, those who asked just didn't have enough time to get the job done as they all have fulltime jobs, families and such. However... the games are being further refined by some of our own homebrew specialists to tweak them up to everyones high standards, so expect even better versions in the future. Meanwhile in another part of the galaxy... (hmmm, lets see, battery circuit over here... hmmm, LCD driver over there, and edge connector with 24 familiar data/address lines there....oh and some stereo headphones, can't forget those...) hint hint Curt

American Football related games are especially useless for European consumers. 922521 That's a CHOICE. I'm american and I'd play european sports games like Rugby or Cricket (ok, so those are English), but still, they aren't American sports but I'd play video game versions, for one thing, they'd be educational to me as well. To choose to ignore American Football becuase it's not a European sport is a shame, it's a fun game (otherwise it wouldn't be so huge in America) and could be an educational experience too. I play "soccer" video games, but I don't watch European(worldwide) football games or play it in real life (which I could in both cases). So what's wrong with the rest of the world playing a little American football in a video game? All financial/marketing reasons aside. Uihjah... never heard of that... *American Football* What can be so different in a Football game? All you need is 11 players on each side, a ball and 2 goals. Last time I saw an american footbal team playing (IIRC in the 2002 World Cup in Asia), they sure knew how to do it properly Greetings, Manuel

However, I personally think that spending time on the compatibility issues is much more important than both tweaking the built-in games and designing a portable version. For me, it's not very interesting with a portable version of the Flashback 2.0 unless it will be able to run my favourite games...
