I got this 1040STf that when loading a program from disk, screen flips on every track read.  Once machine warms up it goes away.  Any ideas?

Do the time honored 4" drop onto a hard surface. If it works, then you'll need to eventually break open the case and make sure all the socketed chips are pressed in firmly.

If it doesn't work, I'd suspect a weak power supply.

Just some random thoughts. HTHs. :-)

I still remember calling Atari when I got my first ST (520ST). I called because the desktop was blank and there were no disk icons. The woman on the phone said pick the computer up a couple of inches and drop it on the table and I went WHAT!?!?!?!

It worked though.........
