doron
I think it could be a good idea to do a tunnel design competition for a sequal to thrust. The game will benefit from that greatly.

If I would try to explain them all, that would be a long post. And I bet, after that, nobody would try to make a new tunnel or the result would be unusable. And finally somebody (me!) had to convert the layout into code. That was probalbly the most frustrating and boring thing while I developed Thrust. So I'm not sure, if I want to do that again. I can second that. *Finding* halfway good looking and good playable levels for Gunfight was the most boring and painful part. Try yourself by drawing something recognisable on a 16 * 16 grid, when you've only one color per line and most of the objects need to be mirrored to save memory. And I didn't even mention that the graphics need to be drawn not only upside down, but from right too the left, too Greetings, Manuel
atarimastermarty
You could have a contest at CGE or Philly Classic. You would explain out load how to make a tunnel. The top 5 or 10 people who made the best tunnels would get a special "tunnel programming" edition of Thrust. Now if you do this idea you would have to give me one just for giving you the idea

Paul Slocum
I've considered doing something like this for Marble Craze since the levels can be large and don't have many restrictions. But I'm not sure if I want to mess with it. -Paul
doron
well, for a thrust, if you look at the synthcart contest, you'll understand people have a lot of entusiasm and creativity, and are acceptive to challenges. as for the narble craze and gunfight it will be great too. It could take the game to an entire new level, beyond the programmer's original vision.

The big difference for Thrust is, that you would need substantial programming knowledge to understand the limitations and especially to convert the level into code and compile the whole thing to be able test and debug it. +johnnywc
Sorry - a little off topic: Where can I find out information regard the status of Marble Craze? Thanks,
Paul Slocum
Marble Craze Info Thomas, could you tell a little bit about how the levels are stored and what the limitations are? You've got me curious. -Paul
