volkssuper
Where would one find a complete case? Each 7800 i've purchased has come with some sort physical defect so i thought this would be the only fix. Also where would one find the large heatsink? A couple minor scuffs on the metal thing but aside form that it's minty, no cracks or chips or anyo fthat BS. Also You can use an old computer heat sink. All you need to do is drill a hole threw it and screw it on properly threw the whole in IC it's suposed to heat sink. You will also get less over heating also using a computer heat sink. For marathon gaming you can actually add a fan also, but thats a little more involved.
shadow460
I'd thought of the fan idea, but a fan means dust inside the console. Given the fact that the 7800 case isn't made from the strongest plastic, I dread taking one apart and cleaning the dust out every so often. Prodos8
I have a 7800 that I spray painted all black around 1990. Now It still looks pretty good, but recently I've been wanting to get an original case to put the mobo in. I only did this because the metal part was getting all scratched up, so painting it solved that. Anyway, I regret that now, and would like to get an original case, if any are floating around? Shawn
I just sold mine to "volkssuper" but if I get another one kicking around I'll let you know.
shadow460
Now I know why I haven't modded my own 7800 too much. It's nearly in mint condition--no dings, sctratches, etc on the console at all, and only minor dings on the joysticks. The Nintendo 64 next to it looks like death warmed over, though. Gregory DG
Ya know... If AA can make clear cartridge shells, what about making clear system cases too?

I'm not interested in it for it's monetary value, I just think it looks cool.
jaybird3rd
Ya know... If AA can make clear cartridge shells, what about making clear system cases too? 1025656 I'd love to see new cases for classic consoles made (it might be a great way to restore dusty, dirty, and sun-faded machines), but given the low demand compared to cartridge shells, I suspect that the tooling would be prohibitively expensive. I know I'd go for a clear 7800.

I know I'd go for a clear 7800.1025716 So would I ... maybe even with a new "20th Anniversary Edition" face plate, a reworked cartridge slot that doesn't have a problem with third-party cartridges, and pre-molded holes for mounting composite A/V jacks and standard AC adapter jacks for the modders among us. classics
What about replacements for the metal strip? Does best or b&c still have those for sale? Steve
bones
I believe best has them. Bought the metal strip for a 2600jr from them a while back, makes for a nice looking console now.
