Starting with the second round, I am running a contest for the rest of the NHL playoffs. The contest is simply to give your predictions for the quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals. Points will be awarded as follows: Quarterfinals - 1 point Semi- 2 points Stanley Cup- 4 points Rules: 1. Once the first round is over, I will post all the matchups for the quarterfinals. Once I do that, you can start posting your predictions. 2. You can make edits up to when the puck drops at the start of the first Quarterfinal game. Any edits made after that and you will be disqualified. 3. Winner is whoever gets the most points. Tie breakers will be determined by the number of total goals scored during the Stanley Cup finals. Whoever comes closest to the total. (this is not like the price is right, you can go over the total). If still tied, winner drawn from a hat. 4. I am going to give an example post to show what I want your guesses to look like. 5. Winners get to choose between some really good stuff. Valued at around $20- $30 6. Contest is open to everyone. Eastern Conference 1) Ottawa Senators (113 Pts) vs. 8)Tampa Bay Lightning (92 Pts) Regular Season Series: Ottawa leads 4 - 0 Tampa. Ottawa hasn't been that good when it comes to playoff time and not having a starting goalie doesn't help. This one in 7 though because of the history between the teams. (In reality Ottowa will probably win I just like to cheer for the "underdog" sometimes) 2) Carolina Hurricanes (112 Pts) vs 7) Montreal Canadiens (93 Pts) Regular Season Series: Carolina leads 4 - 0 I say Carolina in 6. The Canadiens *try* to put up a fight, besides I'm trying to be nice here. 3) New Jersey Devils (101 Pts) vs 6) New York Rangers (100 Pts) Regular Season Series: Tied 4 - 4 It should be a good matchup, if it wasn't playoffs I'd hope for a few fights. I wouldn't mind watching this one at all. Maybe Jagr will finally be the push the Rangers need. I still say Jersey wins this one though because once they get a lead they stick on it like glue and they've ripped the Flyers a new one this year. I just don't know which team I hate more. 4) Buffalo Sabres (110 Pts) vs 5) Philadelphia Flyers (101 Pts) Regular Season Series: Buffalo leads 3 - 1 I dunno, Flyers have been hanging on besides, I gotta cheer for the home team. Western Conference 1) Detroit Red Wings (124 Pts) vs Edmonton Oilers (95 Pts) Regular Season Series: Tied 2 - 2 I don't know the teams well enough to pick this one but I'll guess and say Detroit wins. 2) Dallas Stars (112 Pts) vs 7) Colorado Avalanche (95 Pts) Regular Season Series: Dallas leads 3 - 1 I like Turco, so Dallas in 6. 3) Calgary Flames (103 Pts) vs 6) Anaheim Mighty Ducks (98 Pts) Regular Season Series: Tied 2 - 2 Flames take it in 6. I'll second the "Win one for the Kipper"!!! 4) Nashville Predators (106 Pts) vs 5) San Jose Sharks (99 Pts) Regular Season Series: Tied 2 - 2 It definitely will depend how the goalies are doing. With Vokoun out, it's not good for Nashville. Their offense has to step up but they've been doing well lately so I still give it to Nashville. One of the most pathetic sites in Boston ever was when the Mayor invited Ray back to Boston's City Hall plaza to celebrate the Stanley Cup victory...of the Colorado Avalanche! It didn't really matter that it was for the Avs. Besides that, the event was just a warm up for the 4 parades we have had since for the Pats and Red Sox. Unfortunately I didn't have any so I was going to get my cable hooked back up for the playoffs. Then a thought occured to me. My Atari picks up all kind of interference so maybe it could work in reverse?? I plugged it in and laid it out on the floor and it started to work. Then I took some pieces of aluminum foil and wrapped them around cord. My dad used to do that back in the 80's to pick up Superchannel before the switched to a scrambler. We would just move the pieces up and down the cord until it became sort of clear. End result I saw the game. In a way I did play my Atari today. Ottawa Senators vs 8. Tampa Bay Lightning Tampa looks to be playing well at the right time 2. Carolina Hurricanes vs 7. Montreal Canadiens Caronlina is my pick to come out of the East 3. NJ Devils vs 6. NY Rangers Rangers cause I don't wanna lose again to Brodeur 4. Buffalo Sabres vs 5. Philadelphia Flyers Miracles can happen Go Flyers 1. Detriot Red Wings vs 8. Edmonton Oilers EDM's D is too good and can trap the balls offa DET and I think Legacy can't handle playoff pressure 2. Dallas Stars vs 7. Colorado Avalanche Love DAL, huge Turco fan and Mike Modano 3. Calgary Flames vs 6. Anaheim Mighty Ducks Gotta win at least one series for the "kipper" 4. Nashville Predators vs 5.
