Atari_Owl
Hi Guys I recently picked up Checkered Flag Hockey Soccer Challenge BattleWheels and Super oFf Road for £2 ea at a car boot sale. All working perfectly Anyway, the Super Off Rd looks a little unusual, comprising a single sided PCB with black box like things on either side at the top. Is this how later post-Atari releases looked or is there something dodgy about it?
Isgoed
That's a cool deal you made! I can't help you with the SOR-question though..... Btw do you think SOR is a cool game or not?
Songbird
Yes, some of the late-Atari / post-Atari Telegames releases were on a green PCB with an encased EPROM. Not all are like that, however.
YOK-dfa
Btw do you think SOR is a cool game or not? You have to be kidding right? The game is pretty OK on other platforms, but the Lynx version is horrible.
The_Laird
I don't think there is anything wrong with the Lynx version its arcade perfect in my opinion.
SwedenLynxer
The problem with the Lynx version is the bad controls.
Crazy Climber
I actually own the three player full size stand up arcade super off road, it was fun for a couple weeks but now I am stuck with a 600 pound machine in my basement that was almost impossible to get down there so I dont even want to think about moving it again. Oh well its fun during parties, and BTW the lynx version does suck, its just too hard to control.
Atariboy
The Lynx version is far from arcade perfect. Poor controls and graphics ruin it in my opinion.
Atari_Owl
I'm having some difficulty getting to terms with SOR so its possible that the controls are bad (or that i'm just no good at it) But so far its definitely the least enjoyable of the 5 games i got. Checkered Flag of course is first rate, and so is Battlewheels, in a get right down to business straight away kind of way. THe HOckey and soccer games are a little tricky but fun too though. Hi Atari Owl, The trick with European Soccer Challenge is to get to the edge of the box then tap the button so the player chips it up and imediately press the button to volley it into the net, i've won by scores over 20-0 this way. Although it does get loads harder in the final rounds of the UEFA Cup. Once completed it as Wrexham, now that was hard!
