8bitclassics
http://www.8bitclassics.com/index.php?opti...task=view&id=19 8-Bit Classics is pleased to announce our first label design contest for the new Homebrew/Hack Acid Trip by Charles Gray of Gray Games. Acid Trip is a hack based on Beany Bopper by Xante. The winning submission will receive a free copy of Acid Trip by Charles Gray and a $25 gift coupon for 8-Bit Classics. Entries can be viewed Here! -= The Story =- You have just taken a hit of some experimental acid found in a recently uncovered US research lab from the 1960's. Suddenly you find yourself transported from Earth to the micro-universe on the Atari 2600 Plane of Existence. You find that your body has changed from that of a human to an undead ghost. You have the ability to shoot power pellets out of your head at the various villains who wish to rid you of your unlife. Adventure Dragons chomp at you with their decapitated duck-like heads. Combat tanks approach you as you wonder what this all means. Why does E.T. want to destroy you?(Please check if ET is in the game. I thought I put him there but maybe not). And why do the other undead ghosts attempt to eat you. Evil Otto may be there somewhere as well as other characters from Atari 2600 games. This micro-universe is quite strange and exciting. Perhaps there is a meaning to this after all. -= Contest Rules =- All submissions should be emailed to corey@8bitclassics.com in ZIP format. You may submit more than one entry. Submissions should be for both the top label and end label at 300 DPI and 100% quality in either JPG, TIF, or PNG-24 format. The following guidelines need to be followed for formatting to fit the 8-Bit Classics labels: Top Label Dimensions: 825 x 1014 pixels (975 x 1163 with bleed area). All text and art should fit within the 825 x 1014. The bleed area is to make sure there is no white space. End Label Dimensions: 825 x 150 pixels (975 x 300 with bleed area). All text and art should fit within the 825 x 150. You may use any of the preformatted templates for PhotoShop or Paint.Net from 8-Bit Classics as a reference or starting point. You may not use the Atari logo or any copyright images in any of your submissions. If these are included, that submission will not be entered. Your submission should include “Gray Games”, “by Charles Gray”, and “Acid Trip” on the top label. The end label should at least include “Acid Trip”. Game characters that may be included with your entry are Pac-Man, Pac-Man Ghost, Cyplix Ghost, Combat Tank, Adventure Dragon, (Again, list off Characters that you might like to see on the label). All submissions are due no later than May 19th, 2006 at Noon. Winning submission will be chosen by May 23rd. By entering this contest, you give rights to 8-Bit Classics and Charles Gray to use your entry if won. Most of all, have fun. Please see pictures posted and description above for an idea of the game. All submissions will be posted at 8-Bit Classics for viewing by everybody. Users may also vote on their favorite, but this may or may not be used to determine the winner. Acid Trip game will make its premiere at Midwest Gaming Classic near Milwaukee, WI on June 3rd and 4th. Please see http://www.midwestgamingclassic.com for more information. Except that you didn't provide any way for them to Will results be posted today? It's what Microsoft calls a "feature" , I am working on the comment system, I guess I could have had a poll only show up on that page. Anyway, here is the final winning design. Lisa is the grand prize winner with her updated entry. She receives an Acid Trip cart and a $25 gift coupon good at 8-Bit Classics. MausBoy also helped as we used his Gray Games Logo for the final cartridge also and will be used for upcoming Gray Games releases. So MausBoy will also receive a copy of the cartridge. Thank you all who entered. More contests coming soon! Corey 8-Bit Classics

Atari Charles
When I saw the entries for this contest, I was quite amazed at the very cool artwork you all came up with. It was a very very close competition.
Atari Charles
All of the enties really impressed me, but I felt that Lisa Dehart's (MetroidsAteMyAtari) Entry encompassed most of all the feeling, style, and image I imaged when maing the game Acid Trip.. The label is even humorous with Pac-Man feeding the Undead Ghost(who is still nameless) with some retrograde LSD from a 1960's bunker. Is Pac-man really trying to help the ghost or is he trying to do harm to his eternal enemy? What amazed me is that she created the label with MS Paint, which has to be one of the worst programs out there to do graphics with, yet she pulled it off. As you know with MS Paint, each time the image is saved, it degrades. And it is awkward to use. This game first started out as my limited offering to the Atari 2600 community as a promotional $1 cart. 10 were printed, er should I say 11(11th one was an overprint), and sold to first come first serve buyers with hand drawn label art. There was one error in the code for this limited run. There is an extra pixel on the right foot of the ghost when he moves right. Oops. This error was fixed for the Official Release carried by 8 Bit Classics. Now, how you play this game or in what state of mind you play this game in entirely up to you. I cannot be resonsible for your trip to the Atari 2600 Microverse in which Acid rip is contained. Nor can I be responsible in the methodology you use to get there. However, this game is most fun when played in cart form on an Atari 2600 system with groups of more than one person. So I would like to thank everyone for their entries. Acid Trip will be debued by 8 Bit Classics at The Midwest Gaming Classic on June 3rd and June 4th.

I ordered a bunch of 4K EPROMs that for some reason didn't work and got replacements. Will build it this week. I was going to email you, just been very busy.
