EricBall's Tech Projects - preparing to re-install Windows XP

June 1st I'm going to visit my grandmother (5+ hour drive and across the border), coming back June 4th. While I'm there, the plan is to upgrade her from dial-up to the high speed connection offered by her complex. And I'm planning on doing a complete Windows XP re-install as well. (This will also be a dry run for my own reinstall.)

Over lunch I picked up a cheap NAT router/firewall (a must have IMHO), a 320GB drive and an external case for it. The drive is for me, but I'll bring it to make that all-important everything-including-the-kitchen-sink backup. Hopefully, I'll figure out a way to get her doing simple CDR backups.

I've been hunting around the 'net for suggestions on what not to forget as part of my reinstall & backups. I'm thinking things like:

- Windows Activation keyfile and Windows License key

- Windows Address Book

- current ISP info - phone number, userid, password (pspv to get that)

- Outlook Express backup / export

- Registry export

- list of drivers and applications, original install files/media

I'm also thinking about setting up some kind of secure remote access solution. A co-worker use VNC and dynu.com.

What have I forgotten?
