European launch dates for 7800 and 2600

Hello! I am trying to find out (for my book) the launch dates of the Atari 7800 and 2600.

I have an European (Italian) 7800 dated 1988, but I'd like to know as much as possible about official launch dates in Europe.

Any information is much appreciated.

Launch date for the 2600 in Europe varied quite a bit from the research I did recently for the Retro Gamer article. It was out here before Xmas 1978, but didn't come out in Germany I believe until the following summer.

Were the Atari 2600's made in the USA, Tawian, China, or Japan?

Many early Atari VCS were made in Ireland

the first six switchers were build in usa ... and the facility continued until the early eighties (afaik some 4 switchers were also made in sunnywale)

 

once warner took over, most of the console were built in hong kong (by Atari Wong), then later in taiwan.

 

parts of the european consoles were built in ireland, especially the junior console (and some black vaders before) ... the black junior console was exclusively built in ireland ...

I think there was a delay in the 7800's release, As Atari initially opted for the xegs over the 7800 in europe/uk (as far as i recall), I do remember seeing a 7800 in a glass display case on the atari stand at the 1987 christmas atari show (horitcultural halls, victoria)

In germany,we got the 7800 in 1990.
