Aegis Games, a little thing I made up, is starting as of right now. Thanks to the kind people at 8 Bit Classics, any game I make will be for sale from now on. The first title under the Aegis Games name is Super Maria Sisters. For more info, check out the official Aegis website at http://www.atari2600land.com/aegis/ It's not a very pretty website, but I plan to update it to make it look pretty as time goes on. Just ignore that "starts August 1, 2006" thing at the bottom. Once Aug. 1 rolls around, I'll change it to "started August 1, 2006". It's just easier for me to remember when I started Aegis Games. But why Aegis as a name? #1 - I wanted a really weird name to pique people's interest. #2 - I wanted something cool from ancient mythology. Aegis, according to Webster's, is "the shield or breastplate of Zeus or Athena, bearing at its center the head of the Gorgon. There are 3 gorgons, the most famous one being Medusa. Medusa, for those who don't know, is that famous goddess who, if you look at her, you turn to stone. Zeus is the Greek god of all the other gods, and Athena is the Greek goddess of all the other goddesses. Aegis rhymes with "Regis" and is pronounced "Ee-gis." Aegis can also be spelled Egis, but the A in front of the E adds mystique. I doubt very many people will buy any Aegis games, but now I can say they are technically for sale.
