Eckhard Stolberg
I don't have a Falcon or know how build a VGA adapter, but I have a magazine with a Falcon test, that says that the Falcon is supposed to come with an adapter for connecting it to VGA monitors. So it should be possible. Also the magazine described the monitor connector on the Falcon. Maybe this helps you a bit to figure out the connection yourself. The connector is a male DB19. The top row of pins is numbered 10 to 1 and the bottom row is numbered 11 to 19. The pins are: 01 Red 02 Green 03 Blue 04 Mono/Overlay 05 GND 06 Red GND 07 Green GND 08 Blue GND 09 Audio Out 10 GND 11 GND 12 Composite Sync/V 13 Horizontal Sync 14 Vertical Sync 15 External Clock Inp 16 External Sync Er 17 +12V 18 M1 19 M0 Ciao, Eckhard Stolberg
t.skid
Thanks Eckhard, now I will work on it. If I get some results, I post it here!!
Clint Thompson
Do you have an RGB Monitor? (the SC1224 or the other one?) If so I would prolly just stick with that unless you have a game that requires VGA? From what I remember, using VGA on my Falcon was slooooow. The adaptor itself I remember took me by $30! Good luck on building that adaptor! Clint
Gaiyan
There's really no difference in speed between VGA and RGB if you compare the same resolutions. The fact that VGA will run on a higher resolution taxes the performance of the system. When my stock Falcon ran at 800x608 in 256 colors, it was very slow. RGB is awesome for games and VGA is more for serious stuff. Joshua.
Gaiyan
I never did a VGA adapter but I was succesful in making an RGB adapter for my Commodore monitor. One thing to remember is how you connect the M0 and M1 lines. The combination of them tells the Falcon what monitor you're using. If you manage to wire the monitor wires correctly but don't ground the 'sense' lines (M0 M1) properly, it just won't work. I'll look around for info on it and post it here. Joshua.
