Paranoid
I bought a Jaaks Atari stick for $5 today at a local store, used. Opened it up, and there is corrosion on the terminals in the battery area... and it won't power up. Isn't there a way to clean the corrosion and restore the ability to conduct a current? +remowilliams
Just scrape off any large deposits and then use a wire brush or a finer grit sandpaper and it'll take care of it
jferio
I used the wire brush bit in my hobby dremel to blast the corrosion off the battery contacts of my old Blip game. Just as long as you get those contacts down to bare metal, you'll be fine.
Paranoid
That was what I figured I'd do... hit it with the dremel tool. Probably the quickest way to solve the problem. Thanks!
Paranoid
Thanks guys. A few seconds under the wire brush of the dremel tool, and it knew who was boss. ("Ve haf vays oft makink you play!") Has an odd, and distinctly NON-CX-26 problem... Instead of the fire button NOT working... it is TOO twitchy... like, moving the stick a little will cause it to fire. It feels like the spring beneath the button has given out and the orange button is sitting right on the contact. Might have to open it up and figure out how to fix that... although, this seems in my mind to be way better than having a dead dome contact underneath the button. Makes Adventure a PITA, though. I keep dropping objects. I didn't realize that the Jaaks stick only had 8 games total on it. I thought there were more. Good deal for $5, though.
